Part Four - What if… the person you’ve been looking for all along is YOU?

The epiphany of realizing you are enough.

Have you ever considered that the person you've been searching for all along might actually be you? It's a pretty mind-blowing thought. Instead of looking to others for answers, validation, or fulfillment, imagine realizing that everything you need is already inside you.

Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. All she wanted to do was get back home. She just had to click her ruby slippers 3 times and say “there’s no place like home.” She always had the power go back home.

You too have always had the power to change how you see yourself and your journey. It’s time to start appreciating your own strengths and potential. You have the love, wisdom, and courage to handle whatever life throws at you.

It’s one thing to tell yourself “you have the power” but a completely different thing to believe it. You might be thinking how do I start? Well, reaching out to the ones you love and trust is the perfect place to begin. Talk about what you’re struggling with. Ask for help. The key is to START.

I read this quote on Instagram the other day. “Be gentle with yourself, you’re doing the best you can.”

This is my daughter. She is such an amazing person. I made it my mission to break the cycle of self doubt and abusive self talk. She in turn is passing her compassion onto her friends. And so it begins…

Here’s some of the steps I’m taking:

  1. I talk to myself the way I talk to my daughter. No more disparaging comments or thoughts. I try to get curious about why I’m thinking that way. When I think about people telling her that she looks like me, for the rest of her life, I stop and really think. The world is a better place because I’m in it!

  2. I give myself a hug each morning and before I go to bed. I repeat these 4 things.
    Janice, I love you.
    Janice, I’m sorry.
    Janice, I thank you.
    Janice, I forgive you.

  3. I try to let the “stuff” I can’t control GO.

I had the privilege of photographing Claudia. In her AS I AM session we danced, we talked and we were present for each other.

What steps can you take to move yourself to a more loving place for yourself? If I can help in any way please reach out. Text, email, call… I’m here to listen. Let me help start the conversation.
